Need help getting your motorcycle endorsement? Below are some resources.
Check with your state's Drivers License Division for requirements and options.
Option 1
Add Motorcycle Endorsement to Your Utah Driver License
This is a great option if you already feel comfortable operating a motorcycle. We recommend reviewing the Motorcycle Operator Manual to prepare for the written test (link to it below).
Submit a nonrefundable fee for a renewal or duplicate driver license plus the motorcycle endorsement fee of $18.00.
Bring your current Utah driver license.
You may be required to provide two documents of your Utah residence address.
Take the 25-question motorcycle written knowledge test. When passed, you will be issued a motorcycle learner permit which allows you to operate your car and any size motorcycle.
For the first two months of the permit you will be restricted to riding a motorcycle with:
No passengers.
No riding between the hours of 10:00 pm and 6:00 am.
No riding on highways posted more than 60 miles an hour.
NOTE: You must be 21 years or older to book one of our motorcycle adventure tours.
Riding Skills Test
When ready, you will need to schedule an appointment at the same driver license office to complete the motorcycle riding skills test. You may bring your own motorcycle to the office with your permit. After all requirements are successfully completed, you will receive a temporary license the same day. The completed license will be mailed to you in about 3–4 weeks.
The Motorcycle Safety Foundation approved programs serve as a license waiver for the skills test at a Utah Driver’s License office. The course covers the fundamentals of becoming a safe and responsible motorcycle rider. This is a great option if you want to increase your confidence on a motorcycle and learn the basic fundamentals. Below are links to some great riding schools in Utah. They also offer advanced riding classes.
